Certain individuals within the world of Inline Hockey maintain enough of a reputation such that they need no introduction. MIHWA’s newest director is exactly that sort of individual, especially in his native USA, but around the world as well. Michael Enright, from Long Island, New York, USA is the newest member of the MIHWA executive board. His specific role is titled “Director for Marketing and Partnership”, but of course like all of the volunteers who work with MIHWA, the task at hand is multi-faceted and complex indeed.
MIHWA recognised a need for greater representation and support in the governance of our organisation, coming from wide consultation and feedback over the last few years. As we grew, so did the task. So we agreed to improve our structure, and look for individuals with skills and experience in the game that would add value for us all. We could not have found a better candidate than Michael, a multi World Cup veteran player and manager of Inline, vast wealth of experience in the game, and a personal character that needs no description to those who know him. We find Michael fully aligned with our core values and principles, and eager to get his hands dirty. Already he has expanded and opened up new potential avenues for partnership working, which is a vital aspect of sustaining this game.
In his own words, Michael stated: “I am honored and humbled to have been asked to be a part of MIHWA. Since 2016, I have been so impressed by the selfless efforts of this organization and what it delivers to all of us as players. Year after year, MIHWA not only offers an unforgettable world-class inline hockey experience on the floor, but provides unforgettable memories for both the player and team alike. It’s these memories along with the relationships that are built between all who attend that drive the attraction to return. I am excited to be a part of future of MIHWA and look forward to supporting the development of this tournament series.”
We could not have said it better, and we believe with Michaels help, we can offer even better tournament conditions and value, at a much lower cost than any other comparable sporting event of this level. That is a testament to the volunteer spirit among the MIHWA team, coming directly from our own time and experience as players who love this game. Michael says:” I have been playing roller/inline hockey since 1985, starting out with the Valley Stream Wolves in 1993 with NARCH. I have been going to Narch, TORHS & State Wars tournaments in various divisions since then. I have played in the MLRH (Pro Inline Hockey League) 1997 & 1998 and various other professional divisions. At Lindenwood University in St. Louis, USA in 2003 I was playing both on Ice and Inline. Then team USA 38’s from 2016 to 2019. The 45’s 2022 & 2023. I have always enjoyed coaching youth hockey (6th season) and facilitating inline hockey camps either locally or abroad.”
It is this kind of dedication and experience that MIHWA can access in order to bring you the very best tournament in the World. Michael is a great edition to this team, and to Inline Hockey development across the Globe. He says it best when he states:”…we would all play for free our whole lives because we love the game & the relationships we build through it”.
That’s the spirit Michael! We welcome him to our family!
