MIHWA has evolved and adapted over the years in order to deliver the worlds best Masters level Inline Hockey Tournament. In that time we have grown from humble beginnings, and at each crucial stage expanded in a way to meet the growing demands of this level of event. In 2023 MIHWA came together following the second Brunico MVL World Cups, the largest ever to date, and we began the same process of evolution. Consulting with many of the key stakeholders in our sport, Managers, National representatives, players, and former legends of our game, we endeavoured to build a foundation for MIHWA sustainable into the future.
With our size and level, comes a responsibility do deliver the games in a professional and reliable manner. An exhaustive summer of discussions and feedback followed, and now we are ready to demonstrate our new structure, built for a sustainable future while maintaining our unique atmosphere of family and friends, players and partners always first. A full summary of our reforms will be discussed in detail at our upcoming AGM (TBC), but here below are the key points:
-
- MIHWA have restructured the way in which we are governed, in order to fall in line with other professional world sporting bodies. The new structure is as follows: MIHWA will now be governed by a standing Executive Committee, consisting of up to 6 members, who shall be elected to their positions through a constitutionally mandated process, for a term period (to be decided at AGM). The current MIHWA executive was structured according to the current members in place, who will become up for election following the 2024 WC at the next AGM. The Executive committee are: David Ninzatti, President; Peter Wirt, Vice President (Director for Media); Duane Voss, Vice President (Director for Logistics and Players); Christian Mader, Director for Sport and Referees; Michael Enright, Director of Marketing and Partnerships. MIHWA recognises and honours those who have given so much to our sport, and continue to support and guide us. Therefore, we hold in high esteem our Honorary Members, Gilbert Portier, Alberto Lastrucci, Alain Blanchet and Martin Mecera.
- MIHWA also recognises the unfailing contribution of our hard working team of individuals, who make the games work every year. We have named this group the MIHWA Organising Committee. The organising committee are appointed by the executive, for their specific expertise in specialist roles, all essential for the running of the largest world inline hockey event. The organising committee for 2024 includes the following individuals: Isabella Emacora, General Secretary; Giulia Luglio, Office Manager; Aldo Berardi, Production Manager; Fabiola Berardi, Social Media Manager; Tracey Hocutt, Information Systems Manager; Roberto Casale, Scheduling manager; Mattia Amadei, Legal; Guillaume Sillies, Sporting advisor; Advisor; Stepan Patcek, Referees Manager; Plus a number of local members in each host venue every year.
- MIHWA will open up a new committee, called the Representative Committee. We will call upon each National Federation (who are official members of MIHWA with at least 3 years standing) to elect or appoint an individual to represent that nation’s interests, and to propose new ideas and support the development and growth of MIHWA and our sport. These representatives should be available for two annual meetings, and will be able to elect executive committee representatives and vote on developments within MIHWA. This does not necessarily mean the National Team managers in every instance.
- MIHWA are creating an official constitution, where all these guidelines and principles will be detailed, and so all may be active participants in the development of our game.
- We have created a written guide, called the MIHWA Guidebook, which sets out the specific expectations and responsibilities for every participant, Team, player, and for MIHWA during each year of the WC cycle. It details in clear format who is responsible for what, how it is funded, and what everyone can expect from the yearly event. We hope to eliminate confusion and tension over issues like accomodation and travel issues, and set out a clear case for who does what, when and where. Then everyone can feel secure in their role and hold accountability, which especially includes MIHWA! This will be published following our approval at AGM
- Further details will be released following our consultation at the upcoming AGM, which will be announced once we confirm dates for Jaca. Stay tuned for more news, and of course you can always contact us directly for more information.
